The Business Challenge
BeX is to act as a cooperative platform to connect University partners and their respective industry collaborators. This connectivity will facilitate student mobility for enhanced experiential learning activities. The process is geared towards undergraduate, early career postgraduate and doctorate students.
The opportunity will be open to students from all areas of study in order to widen the pool of available talent to not only tackle the sector skills deficit and diversification challenges, but also to harness the new skills required for changes in construction delivery (i.e. off-site manufacture, lean and integrated delivery, reliance and low carbon construction, BIM and other technology integration).
BeX objective is to accelerate a change in construction culture towards progressive delivery via an international knowledge exchange. This change will require talent attracted to a sector that produces the sustainable communities of tomorrow whilst decarbonising the economy.
This new approach to construction needs dynamic university partners that are brought together through a collaborative framework. The collaborative framework will manage and facilitate this sharing of knowledge and provide opportunities of learning from different international contexts.
Edinburgh Napier University (UK) and the University of Utah (USA) are piloting the concept. -
